Go to takeout.google.com, select Google Photos, and download the export (.zip). Then open Takeout Photo Organizer and point it at the file — no unzipping needed.
Google strips the “date taken” from the photo file and hides it in a JSON sidecar. Most apps then show the download date instead. Takeout Photo Organizer reads the JSON and writes the true date back into each photo’s EXIF data and the file’s Finder dates.
No — the App writes organized copies to the destination folder you choose. Your original Takeout .zip stays untouched.
